Thor’s Hammer is a logistics-focused wargame that is designed to demonstrate the unique challenges of conducting large-scale combat operations in an austere, arctic environment.

The wargame is set in the near future with Russia and NATO in conflict over Eastern Europe. Russia must quickly advance and seize control of the airfields and naval ports in Norway to prevent NATO from transporting supplies and military equipment across the Atlantic. From NATO’s perspective, it is vitally important to retain control of Norway, not only to preserve the territorial integrity of a NATO member, but also to ensure that NATO retains a bastion in Scandinavia to transport the needed combat power to Germany and Poland to sustain
the ongoing conflict in the Baltics.

Players must overcome problems such as: moving logistical supplies into country through the several Aerial Port of Debarkation (APOD) or Seaport of Debarkation (SPOD); transporting logistic supplies from APODs or SPODs to combat units; and anticipating the physical challenges of the environment will force the players to consider supply constraints throughout their campaign in Norway.

The core gameplay includes acquiring, transporting, and managing supplies while waging war is to teach players about anticipating future supply needs and current requirements. Players must balance moving new supplies into theater and investing in infrastructure/assets. The air and naval warfare aspects of the game are deliberately simplified (cards only) to allow players to focus on the sustainment related to the ground combat forces.

The game is intended for 2 players or sides (2-3 players each).
